Services at AIDS Thunder Bay
AIDS Thunder Bay (ATB) offers a wide range of services around HIV/AIDS and related issues.
HIV Clinical Care Program provides medical appointments on site with Dr. Greg Gamble,Dr. Sarah Eckler and Dr. Anita Chakrabarti. This program offers specialized HIV care for persons living with HIV or AIDS. Additional developments are in the planning stage.
Prevention efforts are targeted to groups at risk for HIV infection. Peer outreach, community programming, and social marketing are all part of this effort. Our main prevention program is the Injection Drug Use Outreach program (IDUO) which targets the injection drug using community.
Support services provide a range of programs for persons living with HIV or AIDS, as well as those affected by the disease. Personal and family counselling, case management, health promotion, support groups, workshops, and personal assistance are some of the services offered.
Education is an important part of dealing with this issue. We offer community workshops, access to print and electronic information, harm reduction materials, and we work closely with community partners.
Advocacy is also part of our mandate and we work locally, provincially and nationally to improve conditions for everyone affected by HIV and AIDS.
All of our efforts are made possible by a strong administrative team, local fundraising efforts and a dedicated team of volunteers.
